[Oh, and what travelling peddlers they are. The Mask Salesman has one of those gaits that is both aimless and full of purpose, carefree and yet determined to get to his destination. His neatly combed hair is not ruffled by the breeze, sharp and chill, that wafts by him, nor does he seem to be feeling the cold.
When he catches sight of the imp, he stops, and chuckles, that smile neither growing nor leaving his face despite somehow looking bigger.]
[There's the distinct aura about the Happy Mask Man of one rubbing his hands gleefully, but he doesn't seem to be moving aside from turning to face Midna properly. His voice, as before, is jovial and bright.]
What an interesting mask you wear. I daresay some must call it quite hideous, hm?
Okay, a real tag now.wallrunJanuary 30 2009, 20:27:22 UTC
Can I help you with that?
[There's a young man coming up alongside the salesman, having ran to close the distance between them. He appears to be of Sheikah descent, but his red eyes are oddly faded, and his clothing is nothing like that of the other Shadow Folk in this kingdom.]
[Why was such a frail man weighed down with a pack like this?]
(ooc: Disregarding the thread in Ganon's Tower for now since it isn't finished yet.)
[another young man is following the Sheikah, albeit at a slightly slower pace (and with less agility). He has the same face as the other Heroes, but like Sheik, was dressed differently from those native to Hyrule]
...
[slows down when he sees what caught his friends attention, and gives the man a confused look. This image is so... Unexpected]
[Unexpected? Why, the feeling is mutual. What odd garb is this for people to run around in? Ah, youth. Yes, the Mask Salesman has stopped to turn and look at them. He somehow regards them beadily without... Changing... in any way...
But he does appreciate good manners. He gives one of those tinkling little laughs, masks clicking as he leans forward to support it slightly.]
Do not worry about that. I have been carrying this for a very long time. Why, I should feel near incomplete without it!
[Catching the Hero's confused glance, his smile seems, somehow, to grow.]
Good day to you both. And might I say, what interesting masks you have. I am fond of modern retellings of old classics.
Are you sure? It wouldn't be any trouble, really. [This guy is surprisingly tough. If he really is going to carry that, Sheik won't press the matter further...]
[Masks? "Modern retellings"? The Sheikah casts a glance over at his friend, wondering if Link's just as startled and confused as he is.]
[The footsteps he notes but chooses to ignore -- it doesn't matter if anyone's walking by or not, really. He stays where he sits, leaning against a fence, wrapped in his cloak.
[...that song. He's only heard one other person play it ever...
[He climbs to his feet, cloak flapping open and the mask at his belt shifting with the motion, and looks around, unable to believe what he's seeing. Is that really...?]
I never thought I'd see you again. Haven't lost any more masks, have you?
[Well, this was unanticipated! The Mask Man gives a cheery smile (naturally) as he looks over at Link. But the words are somewhat souring. He covers this up (seamlessly, to all extents and purposes) with a laugh. Link knows those laughs. All too well.]
My luck has not been sullied again to such a degree since those dark three days. Unless we are to count those sold, of course.
[He laughs again.]
Are you surprised? There is always a possibility of such chance encounters.
[This being from a man who doesn't much believe in chance.]
[Yes, yes, he does. A laugh like that isn't easily forgotten. Link relaxes a bit, looking the salesman and his heavy pack over.]
That's good to know for everyone's sake. [After all, he's the one who really understands what it took to get that mask back in safer hands.] Is selling a mask such a bad thing?
Considering I'm still not certain how I got here, I'm a bit surprised to see you here. Though everything is possible...
[Link does have to wonder if the salesman wants something, though he doesn't ask it. Yet.]
Not at all. I do make my living from it, after all. Better bought than stolen. [Something they both know about, hm? But onto other matters. The peddler seems to rub his hands as he rocks slightly in these pointy toed shoes.]
Surprised? Why would you be surprised, young man? It is only Hyrule, after all. I have travelled many paths. But you are a wise child... Wise indeed to consider the possibilities that everything holds.
And what has it brought you? Have you uncovered anything interesting?

[Because right now? She's got that "uh-oh feeling". You know the one. The one they tell you about in after-school specials.]

I just want to let you know that seeing George's tag under this post on the main community page made me laugh so hard.
Match made in heaven, aiight.

Indeed, has it been? Good morning.

So I see you're still in the mask business.
[George is also a staunch believer in cutting straight to the important bits.]
