[The sky over lake Hylia had shifted to an overcast gray by midday, fat snowflakes drifting lazily to the ground. A drifts accumulated in the shady areas, the rest frosting the grass before turning to wet slush. The lake itself had picked up a fringe of ice creeping around the edges of the water. The world on the edges grew still, the pattering of ( Read more... )

[What, still no winter clothes? Consider this girl absolutely boggled; even she's opted to don some sort of protection from the chill (a child-sized cloak, since it's all that fit this form). Boggled enough to double take, and to be quite vocal:]

....you. You're nuts.

[Well that was unexpected. Not to mention the fact that he has no idea what manner of species this...girl (maybe, sounds like it) is, and that means he won't know which bow to use. And that is a bother. He tries for an apologetic nod when someone else takes over the conversation.]

Hey, are you talking to him or me? 'Cause him... [A glance back at Sheik] Well yeah, he is kinda, but you're supposed to say nice things to people when you meet unless you already met but I don't think you have like umm... 'You have a very pretty glowy eye!' or something. But I'm not nuts! [She floats down to Midna's eye level and crosses her arms, ignoring the flabbergasted Sheikah behind her.]

[She shoots a look at the taller of the two--]

What? Your tongue freeze off, too?

[--and then to the more conversational member of the party. A fairy, huh? Chatty, too. That....was a lot to try to take in all at once.]

I was talking about your tall, dark, and tongueless friend, but come to think of it...you're both raving mad. It's cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey out here, and here's the lot of you practically naked.

'Not exactly...' [He gives a small shrug and brushes his damp hair back, at a loss with how to deal with the situation. Casual conversation was never a strong point of his. At the naked comment he blinks and looks over at Navi, who is in turn giving him a considering look.]

Well you are kinda, if you don't count bandages as clothes I guess. [Back to Midna, sitting with her legs crossed in the air and ignoring the fact that she actually IS stark naked.] He has a tongue (I think) just doesn't talk ever. Which makes it hard to figure stuff out when he randomly gets up and starts tromping through the snow to Lake Hylia.

[She floats closer to Midna and leans in] I bet he wants to go skinny dipping

[Another man, similarly poorly-dressed, was lingering by the edge of Lake Hylia. Link hadn't been outside long, but already the chain mail against his undershirt seemed to be collecting the chill straight from the bitter mid-afternoon wind. He shivered as a breeze tickled by, trailing snowflakes. The day wasn't nearly as severe as his experiences of the weather on Snowpeak Mountain, but that didn't make the air coming off the lake any warmer.]

[Why was he here again? Ah, yes. Errands. Other people's dirty work. The usual. Link returned to himself after a short gaze out over the beauty of the frost-crested lake. He prodded a thin glass vile gently into the safety of his baldric.]

[He turned, and was immediately struck by the sight of the odd pair of travelers amongst the snowy backdrop. Without hesitation, he approached.]

It's ...not a very good day to be outside. [He greeted, kindly.] The wind off the lake is much colder than the wind in the fields.

So then he decided to just set the bomb down, but he couldn't choose where after he lit the fuse-hmm? [Pausing in monologue at the other's approach, she flits closer to hover near Link's head.] Wow, you look cold too, are you okay, is there some rule I don't know about that says no warm clothes or something?

[At the sight of another hero Sheik gives a half-bow of greeting, sighing at Navi's apparent issue with personal space. He gives Link an apologetic shrug, glaring at her never seemed to work anyway.]

-hey by the way have we met? You look kinda like the Link who said he had goats but maybe not is that bad that I can't tell you apart? [At this she actually pauses, considering the possible outcomes of mixing up Links. Sheik just shakes his head and sighs.]

[A...taking fairy. That certainly was unusual. The only fairies in his Hyrule (or that he'd seen in this one, for that matter) were the silent pink ones that hovered around the various enchanted springs. The excitable, talkative creature was a stark contrast against her silent companion.]

Rule about warm.. [He parrots back, just trying to wrap his mind around everything Navi's saying. The rapid fire conversation wasn't something that he was used to.]

..No.. I don't think..

[When Sheik finally moved, bowing, Link nodded back respectfully.]

[And then back to the fairy. The mention of goats hooks his attention quickly. It sounded as though she'd met another Link from Ordon how strange that still sounded.]

I..don't think we have spoken before. [But then again, how could he be sure?] ..But I have met two men who look like you. [He directed at Sheik. Although, this one carried himself differently than the other two. He could only suspect that he was another doppelganger.]

[And at this point, poor Link is more than a little torn ( ... )

[More of him... well, at least the shock of meeting his first double has waned by now. And this Hero is close to another he has met, but not entirely. Of course, leaving anyone at the mercy of Navi for too long is simply cruel, so he holds out his hand as he saw Link do so many times.]

Oh, does that mean you don't come from the farm village, 'cause I had a really important que-huh? What? [Stopping in her fourth orbit of Link's head Navi instead flies over to Sheik to hover above his palm.] I just wanna know what a goat is...

[In response Sheik gives Navi an eyeroll and lowers his head apologetically to Link, making a small 'May I be of help?' gesture with one hand as if he's offering something invisible. Navi glares for a moment, but catches on.]

Huh? Oh yeah, do you need help with whatever it is you're doing? 'Cause I have no idea what he's [A thumbjerk over her shoulder at Sheik] up to besides freezing to death. I'm Navi. What's a goat?

[The last remark earns her a halfhearted swat, which she dodges with a giggle followed by a ( ... )

Hey, do you hear that? [Tilting her head to the side, the fairy listens for a moment, then swirls higher to gain a better view.]

[Sheik has already nodded and begun walking towards the sound of the harp, forcing Navi to catch up with him. He gives the fairy a questioning look, and she points.] They look kinda like you, 'cept for trying to freeze their foot off.

[He raises an eyebrow at that, but has his question answered when he reaches the riverbank. He immediately notes the cloak, even before the Sheikah herself, and is faced with a puzzle. Sheikah + Royal Garb = X?]

[Going for the middle ground, he walks around into her line of view and drops into a lower bow for a fellow Sheikah of higher rank. Navi, missing the point of etiquette, flits over to hover above the lake near her foot.] Hey, do you really think you should be doing that Link told me once that toes can actually fall off if they freeze or you could catch cold or something!

[The speech is familiar on his ears, although the accent and hints of the words are different. A different land or time, perhaps, as her outfit suggests.]

[He straightens and relaxes (although it is difficult to tell), before directing a look and a sigh over at Navi.]

Ha! So you admit that you're gonna catch cold, I knew it, and whaddaya mean sparkles? Well, okay I do sparkle, but I don't call you Bandages and... what? [Finally catching on to the astonished look, she turns in the air in an attempt to figure out what was so interesting, then directs a look back to her own Sheik.]

Did I miss something again?

[Deciding to rescue the other from an inquisitive Navi, Sheik nods and beckons the fairy back over.]
