[between the entrance to the Lost Woods and Lake Hylia is a small grove of trees; just enough to offer shade from the sun to a weary traveler, but hardly a place to hide away in. He's never been one to hide... If questioned, Link would much rather use the word 'avoid'. It has been something he's done for most of his lives after all ( Read more... )

[he catches the faint sounds of something near the edge of his chosen arena, but pushes it to a side after a moment passes and there aren't any more sounds of movement. Still, a part of him starts listening to the environment in case of an attack. The lack of sight didn't bother him when it came to keeping an eye on his surroundings; the only thing he could discern from his own eyesight was movement and shadows now.

... Wait, that sound a moment ago-]

...!!

[his steps don't falter. Instead, he pulls his blade back and quickly jumps back. Were he not blindfolded, there would have been a bewildered (and possibly mock offended) look directed at the other, as it was though...]

[There's a small smile when a memory resurfaces before he gathers his bearings again and comes at Link with a straightforward slash]

[ooc: What can I say? I've been hankering for a fight thread since I lost the games where I could actually fight ♥]

[he's listening to the sounds around him carefully. While he couldn't pinpoint the exact location of where the other Hero was standing it was enough for a general attack. After all, this was just practice.

Shifting his weight onto his right foot, he uses the momentum to spin around and attack again. Not quite as smooth a motion as it would have been when he first arrived - not actively fighting for a few months does that to one's reflexes - but muscle memory really is a useful thing. There's another brief smile at the teasing, but he remains silent]

[The blur of movement attracts him to the grove of trees at the south edge of the Lost Woods. Link wanders them often, too much a Kokiri in mind if not body to be lost in those deep trees, but he rarely sees anyone else. It's a cost of the forest's call to him, never seeing another soul, spending his time here in solitude. His retreat here has been long, and it's been that long since he's had company; he's starved for it.]

[He comes to where he sees the movement, matching the forest's quiet. When he sees who it is, he halts in his tracks. The other Link looks incredible like this, sword in hand, eyes blindfolded, following a dance of his own making on instinct and other senses. He wonders if he himself looks half so graceful when he wields the Master Sword.]

[For the moment he simply watches, uncertain if the other realizes his presenc or would want to be watched, wondering if he should make himself known, but unwilling to interrupt.]

((ooc: glad to see you again! ♥ hope this is okay. I just love your Link))

[he continues through the motions and forms... He doesn't initially notice the other presence in the clearing at first but after a moment or two, he slows to a halt. It's harder to detect the scent of people when he wasn't using his senses as a wolf, but there was enough to give faint alarms.

Turning his head slowly, he doesn't bother pulling the blindfold off just yet. Even with vision, picking out a Hero amongst the green of the trees and field is difficult]

[ooc: askfjdasdgkljf;a It's fine. &hearts It's good to play here again!]

[Seeing the other Link slow down and turn slowly toward him, Link takes a step forward, but doesn't speak yet. The other would see him immediately if he removed his blindfold, but he hasn't done it yet. Does he not want company? Or does he, perhaps, want to test himself like this?]

[After a moment, Link's hand goes to the hilt of the Master Sword, and he draws it from his sheath. The other should be able to recognize that sound. He waits for him to make the first move, the first indication of what he wants.]

[the sound of a footstep causes him to turn towards the other with more confidence. At the sound of a sword being drawn, Link moves back into fighting stance. After a moment to gauge where the other was, he launches into an attack]

[It was true; theory could only get you so far. It was a fact both Zelda and her protector knew and acknowledged. This acknowledgment was their reason for today's training some distance north from Link's location. A training of a different kind, however... Sheik is carrying a bow in his right hand, and a quiver of arrows is slung across his back. Archery was one art Zelda wanted to learn - had to learn - and while it wasn't Sheik's strongest discipline, he would teach the princess to the best of his ability.]

[Oh... look, Sheik. Haven't we seen him before?]

[Upon sight of the blindfolded hero, together they slow to a stop, watching from a safe distance away. Zelda leans against one of the trees and presses a free hand against its trunk while Sheik keeps her movements soundless. Yes, they had seen this swordsman before... more times than either of them could imagine, but thank the Goddesses that small sliver of recognition still remains.]

[he continues through the forms. Whether it was from lessons with the Hero's Shade or the teachings he received from the Swiftblade dojos, it was always useful to go through all of them... Muscle memory was more reliable than his own memory, but not practicing meant that the skill had a chance of fading away.

And while he never actively sought a fight, he never knew when he'd run into one. Better prepared than sorry.

The faint clicking of arrows causes him to pause at the end of one swipe. He listens carefully, to see if there was someone else in the clearing with him shifting his stance to one more defensive. Was... someone else there?]

[Princess and protector admire and observe in silence, content as they remain unnoticed. It doesn't last as long as Zelda wishes, however... Bandaged fingers curl against the tree's bark, gripping it a little tighter when Link turns their way.]

A swordsman's dance. [Zelda is the one that breaks the silence, borrowing voice from her Sheikah disguise.] Do so few know the steps, you're forced to move in solitude?

[dropping his stance to stand casually, he offers the Sheikah a faint smile. He recognized that voice but...]

No, rather... I suppose I was just trying to clear my head. This isn't a preferred method but all the same... One never knows until they try.

[Riven had never really been drawn to the Lost Woods. Not before now, at least. But there was something about it that day, something he couldn't quite put his finger on. And it was a little surprising to say the least.

He didn't often do things on a whim. So picking up his sword and traveling into the woods was just a little out of the ordinary. As soon as he stepped into the shade, he realized what was his driving force.

There he was, sword in hand and eyes covered. A smirk tugged at the corners of his mouth and he took a step toward the hero.]

Well, well, well. What ever do we have here?

[he freezes when he hears someone else in the field. Another pause before he turns around to face the newcomer, pulling down his blindfold in the process. For your trouble, Riven, all you get is a confused/questioning look]

[Riven arches an eyebrow and eyes Link with a questioning expression.]

Hmp. You're not him. But you are still a Hero, are you not? [His mocking grin returns and his hand reaches behind to grip the hilt of his blade.]

... [another case of mistaken identity. He sighs quietly before taking a step back, grip on his weapon tightening]

Would it make any difference to you if I said 'no'? [... probably not. And even if Link said 'no', the Hero's Clothes and the Master Sword were unmistakable]
