[One of the best things about living in Kakariko Village is having useful and pleasant neighbors. Shad has recently had some conversations with the female Sheikah, the one Sheiky refers to as 'Spirit.' He's told her of the strange stones he has seen in different places around this Hyrule ( Read more... )

[Even as Shad explores the lake area, a pair of red eyes is watching from the shadows of the former laboratory. On closer inspection, they belong to a cursed Sheikah in a heavy cloak, quietly thankful for the overcast day and rather curious as to both who the man is and why he is at the lake.]

[Not moving from his position at the side of the laboratory save to straighten up, Sheik softly calls out,] Are you looking for something?

[Shad looks around, not spotting a source for the voice, which he fervently hopes is friendly.]

Well -- yes, actually. I say, who is there? I only want to know if there are any Gossip Stones in the vicinity; I've been to the lake so rarely that I don't know for certain, and I'm on a mapmaking expedition. I promise I shan't disturb you long, if you'd rather I left you alone.

[Sheik hasn't quite noticed how much he was blending in with the shadows until Shad looks around, bewildered - shrugging to himself, he adjusts the hood so that it properly shades his face and steps out in to the weak sunlight, smiling tentatively.]

No... that is fine. You are looking for Stones of Seeing? [Hastily, he adds,] 'Gossip Stone' is a Hylian name for something they cannot understand. [And really, 'Sheikah Stone' isn't a vast improvement.]

There are a few here at the lake - two are half-submerged, though.

Oh! [He nods to the newly-evident speaker.] How do you do! Forgive my inquiries; my name is Shad, and I am a scholar. I've undertaken a mission to map the locations of these 'seeing stones,' as you call them. I am told by one of your brethren that there is some artifact which can enable the stones to speak to us, so if by chance we acquire this artifact, my maps will helps find the stones again with ease. There are no Sheikah in my Hyrule, nor any evidence that they existed so far as I'm aware, and I confess myself very curious about the race.

(ooc: Sorry about the delay! I was away all day yesterday.)

[Shad, his eyes scanning the area for the stones, almost trips over the figure of a Link.]

I say! I beg your pardon, I didn't mean to intrude.

[He's quite used to the sheer number of Links in this world by now, though this one is unfamiliar. He peers at him curiously, eyes widening at the sight of the Zora tunic.]

That's a most unusual shirt you're wearing. Might I inquire what it is?

[He knows, from the Link in his own world, that it's really not appropriate to ask a total stranger if he can try on their clothes. He'll never forget the look of sheer bewilderment Link had given him when he asked about borrowing the Hero's Clothes. So he suppresses the urge, strong though it is, to ask if he can try on the crazy scaly outfit that this Link is wearing, and forces himself to be content with just asking about it.]

Oh, I beg your pardon! [Shad offers a small bow.] My name is Shad, good sir, and I am a scholar from the time of the Twilight Invasion. The Link of my realm has a suit of Zora armor, but I've never seen a tunic of the same make. Anyway, I'm here as part of a mapmaking expedition I've undertaken. Pray tell, have you seen any of the so-called Gossip Stones in this part of the realm? Large gray boulders engraved with the Sheikah symbol of the weeping eye? I'm trying to discern the locations of all of them.

[Makar is back to investigate the progress of the sprout he planted here not long ago. And indeed, under the sunlight and the balmy weather, just close enough to the shore that the fresh water can gently feed its roots, it seems to be prospering! Makar hums a happy little tune to himself as he spreads soil collected from the Deku Tree's roots around the sprout, which is already as tall as he.]

[Din has emerged from her dip in the lake and is walking along the shore, letting sun and wind dry her, when she comes across the little leaf-man.]

Oh! Well, hello there!

[Curious beyond belief, she crouches down for a better look at Makar.]

I've never seen anyone like you before! May I ask your name?

[Makar looks up at the lady who emerges from the water; oh, how nice it must be to swim! He only bobs along like a cork in deep water, his little arms and legs unable to propel him.]

Hello, miss!

[He's gotten quite used to people in this Hyrule exclaiming over him; as far as he can tell, there's not a single other Korok that inhabits it.] Certainly! I am Makar, and yourself?

[She smiles.] Makar, is it? That's charming. I'm called Din. What's that you're tending there?

[Din half wants to ask if he's growing another of himself, but she knows better than to ask something so absurd. The little fella is definitely adorable, though. She'd keep him in her pocket.]
