He takes her back to the apartment and Sun invites him in for coffee. She's not even sure she has any. The truth is, she just wants more time with him. There's a connection between them, one she suspects that people share when they've survived a great tragedy together. And she tells herself this without acknowledging that that's exactly who they are.
That's exactly who they are.She says goodbye to her mother, kisses her on the cheek. Briefly introduces her to Sayid before she leaves. He is gracious and polite and says how lovely it is to meet her

Aw I really like this! I can totally hear everything Sayid says. They both feel very in character here. And this line is just lovely
They're connected in a way she can't explain, and seeing him again made her feel understood, for the first time. He's the only one left who could possibly understand.
A pairing I really wouldn't have ever thought of myself, but I definitely enjoyed this :)

Yes! I'm SO happy you wrote these two, because I really do love them and they don't get written, other than by me. And very pleased you wrote them during the O6 time, which is the only time they really work. Or at least I'd assumed it was an O6 fic, though it could also just be sometime in a vague future, couldn't it? Doesn't matter, I love it wholeheartedly either way!

I hadn't recalled ever seeing anyone else write them, that's for sure. I'm so glad this worked for you, I was kind of nervous about it but I wanted to write you something for this and the pairing just struck me. I have literally never written Sayid fic before, so it was nerve wracking handling the character for the first time for someone who loves him so much.
TBH I didn't much think about the timeline. I just uprooted Sun an plopped her down where she landed -- New Mexico for some reason.

I think the only people who have written Sun/Sayid are me and isis2015. It's not a pairing I would have thought of if not for the O6 storyline, but it seemed so perfect to me at that point. As you probably know, I rarely write het, but I was inspired enough for two whole fics! Unprecedented! ;)
