Chapter 12
(Author’s Note: I’m going to take a second to defend Katherine.
ZeldaQueen: This'll be rich *munches popcorn*
She’s not playing Jones and Jack. There is a love triangle, yes, but it’s not her fault. Okay. I’m done.
ZeldaQueen: ...And? Were you planning on actually backing that up with any evidence?
Oh, and spoilers - I know for fact that Kate later says that she knows her love for Jones has nothing to do with Sirena. So no, you can't play that card. Kate is a disgusting little blister who wants both guys and thus sneaks around and gets them and suffers no consequences for this. You saying otherwise does nothing to change that fact
Back to the emo-ness that is Ghosts of the Abyss.)
Katherine
I had not left the stateroom since Jones had brought me; instead I sat at a small table near the wall, deep in thought, barely listening as he played the organ before him.
ZeldaQueen: Wait, that's where you are? Um no, dearies, that room wouldn't be dark enough to miss a freaking wardrobe
I idly stroked the necklace about my neck; it was a gold pendant in the shape of a ship’s wheel, with a skull and crossbones in the center. My father had given it to me a week before he died, and I had never taken it off.
ZeldaQueen: ... Does that sound familiar?
Gethsemane? You haven't got a brain in your head, have you?
Did you watch the first move at all? I mean really watched it, not just masterbate over Jack Sparrow. Because the movie makes it very clear that to lift the curse on Barbossa and his crew, every single pendant had to be returned. If any weren't returned or taken back out, the curse came back. And oh yeah, Blackbeard definitely wasn't in Barbossa's crew at that point in time. So if you're seriously implying that she has one of those medallions, you're really fucking stupid. I mean, so stupid I can't even think up an appropriate analogy.
Either way, you're also rather petty. Don't think I didn't notice you trying to steal Will's backstory. Bad enough you've all but written him, Elizabeth and Bootstrap out. And where did this all come from, might I add? You never mentioned this pendant before, why feel the need to bring it up now? \~/
My thoughts wandered to Tia Dalma;
ZeldaQueen: And speaking of bringing up random subjects...
why was she so jealous of me, if she was the one with power?
ZeldaQueen: Wait, what? When did we ever see Tia Dalma be "so jealous" of her? Elizabeth said she was jealous, but all we saw was Tia Dalma get pissed at Kate for dragging them to World's End and then give her A Look after implying she slept with Jack. \~/
Oh, and Gethesmane? Tia Dalma has some power, but not much. Most of what she can do is through fortune-telling, knowledge she had from when she was Calypso, and items that are already magical. And keep this in mind folks, because Gethesemane remains under the impression that Tia Dalma somehow still has all of her powers she had as Calypso
She had been rather cold towards me since we disembarked.
ZeldaQueen: Um, she snapped at you once. Other than that, you pretty much never spoke to her. You also never spoke to Will or Elizabeth, and you're not going on about how suspicious they are. \~/
Oh, and what changed? She was perfectly lovely to you in Heart of the Sea. You know, before Gethesemane learned who she really was. *COUGH* I might also add that it makes even less sense for Tia Dalma to be all Scary to Kate at this point. She wants Barbossa to release her from human form and he won't do that if his precious niece is threatened
I had noticed that she wore around her neck a pendant that was an exact replica of Sirena’s locket…or was it a replica?
ZeldaQueen: *head desk*
Again, why is this being noticed now? Would it have killed Gethsemane to bring it up earlier in the fic, that she was wearing that locket? \~/
She had spoken of Jones before as if she had known him personally.
ZeldaQueen: Yes, I know Tia Dalma did know him personally, but why would Kate suddenly find that suspicious? Tia Dalma was a sea witch and a fortune teller who was familiar with sailors. It wouldn't be that odd that she'd be familiar with Jones
The locket began to play again. I rose from the table and walked over to him, placing my hand on his shoulder. He set the locket down again.
“Did you mean it when you said you loved me?” I asked softly.
ZeldaQueen: Where did this come from?
He looked at me. “Yes. I meant it.”
“Why do you love me? Is it because of Sirena?”
He shook his head. “No. You’re the most courageous woman I’ve ever met; you risked your life to save your husband, and you’re willing to save me, no matter the cost.”
ZeldaQueen: Gethesemane. Get your hand out of your pants! \~/
“No one deserves to live this way,” I answered. “No one should be forced to pay for love with such a high price.”
ZeldaQueen: Yes, viscous murderers who shanghai sailors on pain of death totally deserve love! Deep down, they're just woobies who need a good sexing!
Jack
ZeldaQueen: \~/
Beckett’s search had obviously been in vain, for he seemed rather angry when he returned.
ZeldaQueen: I know how he feels. It's infuriating when you can't find the TV remote!
“I’m willing to give you one more chance, Sparrow,” he said with restrained coolness.
ZeldaQueen: Um, it kind of lessens Jack's awesomeness now that Beckett's all pissy and tantrumy. I mean, in the movies he turned the tables when all odds were against him \~/
I twirled a small figurine of Beckett in my fingers. “If I were in a divulgetory mood, what might I divulge?”
“Everything you know about the Brethren. Where are they gathering, and what is the significance of the Nine Pieces of Eight?”
ZeldaQueen: (Beckett) "What is the capital of Asyria?"
I looked at him. “The Brethren is not gathering at Shipwreck Cay, but at Shipwreck Cove.”
ZeldaQueen: And you would tell him that why?
Beckett crossed the room to a small shelf, where he took a small object - my Compass.
ZeldaQueen: Was it small as well?
“Or, perhaps I don’t need you after all,” he said as he looked at the Compass. “This will point to what I want most.”
ZeldaQueen: Why are you bringing this up? He already started to tell you stuff!
“But what you want most isn’t Shipwreck Cove,” I countered.
“Then what is?”
I motioned towards myself. “Me. Because if, and when, you arrive at Shipwreck Cove, you’ll find that it’s a huge fortress, nigh impregnable, able to withstand blockade for years, and you’ll say, ‘Oh, I wish there was someone I had not killed to go in there and bring the pirates out.’”
“And you can accomplish all of this?”
I smiled. “Who am I?”
Beckett looked at me. “Ah…”
I frowned. “I’m Captain Jack Sparrow.”
ZeldaQueen: Ha ha, isn't that funny? Not quite as good as oh, say, the movie!
Davy Jones
ZeldaQueen: At this rate, I'll be piss-drunk in no time \~/
Katherine sat at my side for an unknown length of time, silent, yet deep in thought. I had noticed that, almost subconsciously, she had placed her hand protectively over her abdomen. I felt my eyes widen upon registering the meaning of the gesture, and I quickly looked away.
ZeldaQueen: Oh good. I really wanted a reminder that the Sue was preggers
“What’s wrong?” she asked. “Did I do something?”
I looked at her again; she had not realized that she had had her hand over her abdomen.
ZeldaQueen: She's a dumbass
“No. No, Katherine.”
ZeldaQueen: Sounds like she's an infant he's scolding
Her eyes wandered to the locket; I handed it to her, and I watched as she gently ran her fingertips along the intricate engraving.
“I had it made for a wedding gift,” I said softly. “Sirena and I both had the same locket.”
“You had two exact copies made?” she asked as she looked at me.
ZeldaQueen: GEE, I WONDER WHERE THIS IS GOING?
I nodded. “The song is one that I had written for her; she loved the melody of it. She never took it off once I gave it to her.”
A sad smile had crossed her lips as she looked down at the locket again.
ZeldaQueen: (Kate) "Alas, she was a Sue almost as magnifcent as myself!"
“But the locket was gone from her neck when she died,” I continued softly.
She looked up at me again, this time with a knowing look in her eyes. “Calypso stole it, didn’t she?”
“Yes. She still wears it.”
ZeldaQueen: *head desk*
First of all, why would she steal the locket? She was a sea goddess! She didn't have a body!
Second of all, if Jones knows that Calypso still has the locket, why hasn't he taken it back yet? She doesn't have her powers still, you dumbass! If she did, how come they keep holding her in the movie?
Third of all, Gethesemane is really determined to alter all canon details of Calypso and Jones' relationship to make her pure evil, huh? I'm trying to find an adequate way to describe how disgusting this is, and I'm falling short. Hmmm...
ZeldaQueen: Ah, that's the ticket! Just replace "he" with "she" and "Gaston" with "Gethesemane" and it's perfect! \~/
I felt her lay her head on my shoulder. “I’m sorry.”
“You’re not the one to blame,” I countered. “I am. If I wouldn’t have made the deal, Sirena and Jacob wouldn’t have been murdered.”
ZeldaQueen: Um, yeah. You ever going to actually explain that one?
“You were betrayed,” she said. “All because of Calypso’s jealousy. You don’t deserve any of this!”
ZeldaQueen: Erm, Kate? He's right, he made a deal with Calypso. That's like saying "I promised to be the lover of Aphrodite and then I split with someone else". You can argue day and night how justified she is in going after you, but the fact remains that you made a deal involving your heart and a pagan goddess, then decided to cut out on her. Really, this is a repeat of Jack's deal with Jones, and Kate's insistence that he doesn't deserve the Locker, even though he made the deal of his own free will and then tried to run for it. Not to mention that, as I pointed out, Jones was incredibly stupid to bring a child to sea and let him on deck during a storm, especially when he knew he pissed Calypso off \~/
“Do you think that you can save me from all this, then?”
ZeldaQueen: Of course she can, she's the Mary Sue *rolls eyes*
She nodded. “Yes.”
ZeldaQueen: A verbal nod. Impressive
