Okay, *okaay* I was over reacting a little bit there, after going past Book 1, Canto 10, the fact that this really is an allegoryu against Catholicism is startign to come throguh far more strongly ( ... )

ah, the Fairy Queene. just had a recitation on it, kinda screwed up because i didn't have enough space to fit my little disclaimer in my response paper on a passage i'm not sure you've gotten up to, so i won't say it, but i think you may enjoy it. although i've noticed that after a while the story really starts to drag a lot. way too long. ah, ze Dragon of Error. Yet the dragon does not equal error completely in that all errors are completely erased when he is defeated, no siree ( ... )

Well, I'm reading the whole thing by class today, so its okay to spoil if you want ^^;; Yeah, i mean I know its not completely an allegory of error -- technically its also an allegory for the CAtholic church. I wonder what you thought about this? it like..lambasts the Church at every turn ^^;;; Well, I'd have to argue that he is pretty damn upset when she comes onto him >.> But yes, the final straw is when he sees "her" fooling around with another guy (no, I got that part ^^;;). Okay, maybe propoganda is a strong word, but it was already associciated with this in my mind, since he *does* critiscize the propoganda of the church, so that was my bad ^^;; And as for instructing gentlemen how to act -- MEH >.< All of Anglo Saxon Lit is chivalry (or if not all, then very much of it). I'm sorry, but I have a *problem* with chivalry, so when texts further encourage it, I'm a bit...not pleased. As you may well know ^^;;

first and foremost, are the both of us spelling propoganda wrong? i feel like we are. isn't it propaganda? ah well, anyway... well, protestant reformation type period, i agree with their criticisms, although i think Spensor is a bit of an extremist even for that time. Talk about Puritan and Precisian. He's upset, but he's really one to talk, Mr. I'm so high and mighty about that so I'm going to leave you and go sleep with Duessa. well, not gentleman so much as nobleman. and not so much chivalry as moral behavior. and making them stick to the protestant church and not the catholic one. well, chivalry isn't all bad, the damsels in distress stuff is problematic, but in terms of battle, it's not such a bad thing, i guess. and if you're going to continue on with Anglo-Saxon Lit, you may need to get used to it ( ... )

You are indeed spelling propaganda wrong. Or rather, were. Damn, why the hell do I sound pretentious?
