To get in shape for belt training, I started going to the YMCA 5-6 times a week for classes. I do Step and Body Step (actually two different things! I didn't know that), Turbo Kick, and Body Pump. Basically lots of cardio and some strength training. 3 days I do just one class, so one hour; 2-3 days I try to do 2 classes, so 2 hours. And in just a month I've gotten some pretty good results.
And one thing I'm going to stress: stay away from cheap food. Most of it isn't food at all, it's factory-made crap that's going to make it difficult for you to get healthy. And by spending more on food, you generally eat less of it.
