I love, love Alan in this episode. He shines with Jerry: he's helpful, supportive, calm, and when everything goes wrong he does what he can to remedy the situation.
They really drop the ball on Alan and Jerry's relationship in the fourth and fifth seasons (mostly because the writers are so intent on pairing Jerry with Katie, I think), which is such a shame. I love their dynamic--the way Alan protects and guides (and tries not to disappoint) Jerry. Plus it's just nice to see Alan interacting with a friend who isn't Denny.

I'll be interested to see if this has anything to do with Denny's jealousy in "On the Ledge", or whether Alan and Jerry have a lot to do with each other in the second half of S3 (I'm up to 3x12 - yes, I'm watching an alarming amount of TV!).
