I remember this story vividly.

I went with option 1. I was sooooo tired the next day at work but it was totally worth it. ;) (What was tricky was explaining to my work friend why I was so tired. "Oh, I was up too late reading an amazing book. A post-apocalyptic book."

Her: "I love that stuff, what's the title?"

Me: "Um... I'll send it to you later."

I read the comments on its original LJ post and saw yours! It really is memorable. I read it in my first few weeks in the fandom and have had a growing desire to read it again with more knowledge of the show and characters. I marvel that it's so long, and mostly they're just driving around looking at empty places, and yet every word is captivating! The scenario is compelling enough and the writing good enough to carry it off.

I get into that sort of situation when it's my turn to host the slash group.

Me: I can't ride with you today. I'm having people over.

Local riding friend (heavily implied question): Can I come over too?

Me: No.
