Goodbye Bytemark, Hello Slicehost

I've just gotten a 256slice from Slicehost and I will deleting my UML instance with Bytemark. I was a customer of Bytemark's for a number of years, and I was happy with them. I had the smallest VM they offered and was just using it to run my DNS, postfix (and clamav and amavis) and a couple of tiny websites. The 75M of RAM the VM has just isn't up ( Read more... )

Do they offer discounts for FOSS developers?

I don't think so, but they still work out cheaper than Bytemark, at least in USD.

Some time ago we were looking for a place where to get a new server.
When we contacted them via chat and asked if they had any limitations like not being able to use chattr (a version of virtuozzo had troubles with it) they didn't even know what chattr was.
As you may guess we didn't consider them as an option anymore.

I don't know if their service is reliable or not, but at least they don't seem to have very good people at the chat.

Thanks glad you like the service. Let us know if you need anything. To the person asking about chattr, I think you spoke with me. I must have had a brain cramp that day, because I assumed chattr was some sore of new chat program with a web 2.0 name, not change attribute.
