It is a branch off the LJ code, using only the open source stuff, and adding more open source stuff. So yeah, pretty much like LJ. The difference is that it is run by a small group of known/named people who it is possible to interact with (so the crazy corporate stuff is less likely to be an issue), and it is much more possible to get heard if you want a change; they even recruit people to learn how to write the code so you can fix stuff directly. And right now it's smaller.
How do you get invite codes? And, thanks again for the code you provided me earlier. I'm really liking dreamwidth, even though besides you and shekkara, I have no contacts there.
When I go to my profile page, at the top there is a group of links "Post" "Reading Page" "Inbox" "Account Settings" "Invite Someone" "Help". The Invite Someone link leads to invites.
In terms of people, karjack is there, though she posts here; same with carpe_noir. I collected some new people just for entertainment, and that's fine.

So how the heck do you crosspost effectively? I also decided to hork a new identity over there (dnasquared)

Is it my imagination, or is this basically the same exact UI as LJ? What's the diff between dreamwidth and LJ then?
