Seriously, dumpster diving is a lot of fun. You get to apply all sorts of body skills that don't come in handy all that often, there's the thrill of the hunt, the chance of doing good work and getting filthy (come on, you miss that in today's world, right?), the recycling, the imagining other people's lives...

[nods] The bedbug problem is horrendous - when we find mattresses in the trash at the properties, we have to cut them up, let alone any other furniture. It used to be a reasonable way to find neat things.

We are even recommending quarantine from Craiglist and Freecycle.

When I was little we lived in apartment buildings. 30 yrs later, my mom still has a plant I rescued from a dumpster.
