Ten scanlations:
Chapters 42-44Chapters 45-47Which finishes volume 5, but I'm too lazy to put together the extra pages right now - so next week.
And even though I think the illustrations make it fairly clear how it works, (
here's a video of the 'surikae' trick in action. )

ALSO, Akagi vs Soga = win fucking win. *flails around*

Ahaha, I know, right? I love how they spent three chapters building Soga up... and them BAM. Beautiful. It's easy to see how Akagi was so awesome that he got his own spin-off.

Also, if you never need anybody to help clean, gimme a shout. The Kaiji scanlaters never got back to me.

Aaaaactually, provided you don't mind the lack of credit (I can't be bothered with credit pages), and the volume (25 pages/chapter x 4-6 chapters = 100-150 pages/week), I certainly wouldn't mind the help!

I can't help but wonder how Fukumoto will fill the story to fit 18 Volumes though. I don't really think the east-west battle will last that long (at least I hope so. For example the Akagi-Washizu battle is awesome, but it's lasting WAY too long), so I wonder what will happen (before the inevitable will happens)...

Hmmm... mild spoiler, I guess? The East-West Battle does actually go on for another 10 volumes. But much like the Akagi vs Washizu fight, I don't think it really seems to drag too much (at least in manga form... the last half of the Akagi anime = gaaaaah.) Then again, there's a lot more different opponents in Ten, to mix it up a bit. And the showdown rounds have a few changes to the game, too, to make it more interesting for mahjong freaks like me.

It didn't feel like the Akagi anime was really dragging to me, but that's probably because I watched it when it had already aired. I think it would be horrible to have to wait a whole month for the next chapter to show up and still have such little progress.

Hmm, kind of the opposite reaction to me. I watched all of Akagi after it had aired too, but the constant repetition of the latter half really got to me (whereas in the manga, the pages just fly by). But I can see what you mean in the case of people following the Akagi manga since the match started... ouch.
