Oh, that was remarkably lovely. They are such jerks. :-) The glimpses of romance are all the sweeter. They're clearly going to do this again. A string of isolated incidents, none of which have any meaning individually or together.

Thanks! I wanted to put them somewhere in the middle of being jerks - which they are - and being trapped by their social milieu and by their own ideas of what is 'acceptable'. In my head I'm not sure if they follow your storyline and have a string of 'meaningless' encounters or never do this again but endlessly tease each other by oversharing details of their conquests of women, while never asking for what they really want, which is another go with each other.

I am very, very happily imagining two parallel universes so both of your scenarios can play out. Even if they never do touch each other again, there can be beautiful UST in the oversharing. Or stag nights or bachelor parties or circle jerks. *happy sigh* Yeah, this seems like a can't-lose dilemma.

I enjoyed that episode as well - amazing to think of a show on which Benedict Cumberbatch only has the third-sexiest voice. Your fic very cleverly fits in with those voices: you've caught the tone just right. I particularly liked the thought of them being competitive about the size of their penises even as they're getting each other off. And the disabled loo where the lift doesn't stop is a lovely Cabin Pressure style joke.

Thanks. BC isn't using his voice to its full capacity in CP of course but the other two are gorgeous, I adore Allam's voice. I wanted a dynamic where they compete all the time while also co-operating. (Sadly that disabled loo is based on a real example at a UK airport!)

The two of them are such total gits and you've captured that so beautifully, together with just that little hint of "not-quite-such-a-total-git" that makes the whole thing so much sweeter. Thanks! For what was a quick kink meme I know have an entire head canon for this universe, the two of them loving being 'sky-gods' and yet being trapped by the norms and expectations of that role and of the times.
I'd love to write them coming back together in the MJN years, life having knocked much of the stuffing out of their younger arrogance (after all, it's not as if Herc is piloting A380s for British Airways, his career has flopped too, if not as badly as Douglas's has.) But I hate breaking up canon couples - especially when there is only one woman in the show anyway - just to have yet more slash.
