I have very good friends who live just down the block who will let me shower there - and there is also a gym/shower at work in the worst case scenario. Moreover, my parents live in Bethesda and would be thrilled if I camped at their place for a few days.
The snow melt is a good ide. Hadn't tahought of that. But not for bathing so much as flushing.
The plumber (who is awesome) is going to come tomorrow morning and says that it is either something that one guy can fix in an hour, or it will be a full-replacement of the water source from the city line. Either way, it will mean better pressure.
You should see the pipe that just exploded off - it is a 9cm pipe with all but about.33 cm totally blocked by something resembling rock.
On the other hand the crappy pressure meant less water in my basement: The water coming in was not a flood so much as a gentle stream. As the guy this morning said: "If I had kidney stones I could pee stronger than that"
You're taking the water loss with astonishing equanimity, zauditu. I don't know that I could do the same in your shoes. ;-) I'm very glad you've survived snowpocalypse more or less intact.
Yes, but I was going to be with my parents for a couple of days, anyway, and so I'll just be extending the visit. Which I might have done anyhow, since Haba and Brandywine are in town for the week.
But really, it isn't something worth being upset about. It broke, I have no water, it is inconvenient, but I can't fix it, I have a good plumber who can, and it will be done on Wednesday...and I will actually have good water pressure after that, which is to be rejoiced about. I've known for at least a year that this was likely to happen eventually - that I didn't get it taken care of pre-emptorily is my own fault.
