I think I've finally narrowed down my selection of shots for submission in Scott Kelby's Second Annual Worldwide Photo Walk. After having shot 8GB of photos, I have about 26 I'm pretty damned happy with.
My #1 choice; The guy with the violin. the look on his face combined with the shot of him obviously playing in the sidewalk - very nice.
choice #2 was a LOT harder. there are some seriously fab shots int here. the bicycle wheels is smoothly artisitic, but does not necesarily tell me a lot about calgary. I really liked the reflections in the glass of the buildings, but again, had a hard time finding one that had all the elements. I would have to say the guy waiting/sitting on the bench. great placement, color, and mental storytelling. If i had a runner up - the woman pointing. again, i am drawn into her story, great color and moment.
Cool, thanks! It doesn't have to be representative of Calgary actually, so if there are others that jump out as good feel free. With 30,000+ photographers taking part I'm going to have a hell of a time even reaching for a runner up spot *grin*
oh, and violin guy? i would consider cropping him a bit, center him so the pic is vertical. The white space on the left is distracting a bit, but the signage and a little room right around him to still show he is on the street.
