your title is correct- nothing new. They're consistent in their views. They take the issue of abortion quite seriously and that will never change. We have several extremely religious Catholic friends who grapple with this at times, but remain pro life because because that's what their religion dictates. You and I may have issue with it, but we're not Catholic.

I have a number of friends who feel similarly. Heck, there are many things in Judaism that I take issue with. That's okay -- it's the nature of any religion, and especially ours.

Yes, but unfortunately they treat us as if we are all Catholic.

So I continue to take issue because they feel the need to impose their religious beliefs on the rest of us through secular politics. I mean, we don't go around trying to pass laws making circumcision mandatory for the good of the gentiles. I can only imagine the reaction! :)

If they simply said, "we don't allow this in our Churches or to our members" and let it go at that, I'd have far, far less problem with it. I probably would barely mention it here. But Catholic activists helped swing the vote against gay marriage in Maine this month....

Don't forget that the people who are making all these decisions about marriage and reproduction, have taken a vow not to marry or reproduce.

And for their second act, a pastoral letter responding to the growth of secular humanism in Europe, tentatively titled, "Irrelevant, eh? Pfeh, We'll Show Them Who's Irrelevant!"
