I keep asking where the Muslim moderates are. Well, some are speaking out.

Heh. I just took a brief break from the Indo-Pak one-day and got both your messages at about the same time. Since I was already having this discussion with someone else, I had a bit of information about the reaction. Some of it might have been covered in your links but right now I don't have the time to check them all out. So I'll just post the entire lot here and answer the rest of your first comment later. :)

But Ahmed Abu Laban is the Muslim troll who GOT everyone into this position! He's the one who brought out the made-up cartoons. While Jyllands-Posten did have some vaguely offensive cartoons, the one with Muhammed with a bomb in his turban is about as bad as it got. The additional cartoons and photos -- Muhammed dressed up as a pig, Muhammed being sodomized by dogs -- those were all entirely made up, and distributed, I believe, by Imam Ahmed abu Laban.

I mean, sure, I believe that he didn't actually intend for stuff to get to violence -- but he's the guy that made this happen. Well, one of the guys. Rosen, the editor of Jyllands-Posten is the other. I consider them both to be trolling flamewar-seeking agitators.

Yep, Laban is the one alright. He was also caught saying one thing to the English press and another to the Arabic press.
