Ah, bread starter! What people did before we got easy, convenient, not-terrifying yeast concentrates! Yeah, you're pretty much doomed to care for that stuff forever if you want the bread. I was reading this one celebrity chef's book, and he used to have a drug addict baker who would just vanish on a heroin bender for days. The only reason the guy showed up with any reliability at all was because he didn't want his bread starters to go uncared for and die. Like some kind of delicious pet.

And a Pokemon movie with significant Parasect presence? Sweet! I must go find this thing, I haven't seen a Pokemon movie since the one with total Ash/Latias OTP.

Whoa, weird, my mom has this same batter sitting on the counter downstairs. I am kind of surprised to see this make it to an area where there aren't Amish people. I drive by them everyday when I visit family in PA, and people still don't believe they exist when I explain this.

I've had a dirt dauber flying around my head like a satellite in orbit for the past ten minutes. And a jumping spider sitting on my pink bunny plushie from Chobits. So I'm kind of like *shrug* hey let's poke the beetle. I guess bug sizes get really relative when you live in the sticks XD

Fermented breads are interesting (versus using yeast to make it rise). There's one variation where you let apple juice ferment in bottles for a week or two and then everyone who ever used the recipe hurt themselves when they opened the first bottle and the cap came off like a champagne cork. Woot pressure!

Though speaking of yeast now I want to make egg bread. Maybe on Monday; that's my next day off work.

Dirt daubers are a type of wasp that's common in Texas. It's easy to tell them apart from their cousins by the tiny skinny stick connecting the two halves of their bodies. While their cousins are aggressive about their territory and are generally mean buggers (just sprayed a red wasp nest last week when routing cable under the house), the daubers are docile. In fact you'd have to really try to get one to sting you. Once one flew out of a cupboard, bounced off my forehead, and then continued on its merry way like I wasn't having a heart attack

Also, I must express my admiration of your countertops (which probably makes me some kind of weirdo). That kind of granite is quarried near where my dad lives.
