Fic: Where the Pavement Ends (Arthur/Merlin, R)

Jan 08, 2010 16:43

Edited to add: Thanks to syrosis, the story is now hosted in a place that doesn't suck, which means that the link actually, you know, works.

What started as a small, fun idea back in October somehow turned into this 60'000 words multimedia monster that is utterly and completely self-indulgent. I don’t know how it happened.

That's the perfect basis for pulling that papparazzi stunt, yo. *g*

Back from the jungle, I take it? :)

60,000 words? TGIF : D

This is wonderful! First of all, Merlin being a stripper! I love the image of him all glittery with his golden eyes. Arthur was delightfully snobby and infatuated in turn. Morgana, Gwen and Lance were all equally fabulous; I especially enjoyed Morgana's relationship with Arthur. The science details, though completely lost on me, were a nice touch : D I loved that although Arthur and Merlin slept together (which was super hot by the way!) before forging any type of friendship, they did so afterwards. All the tension and UST was lovely and I really enjoyed the ending. Awesome job ♥

TGIF? *blinks* Oh, oh! Thank God it's Friday?

I think the image of Merlin as a stripper was why this story totally won in that poll I did way back then. Fandom is so predictable! But then, so am I. Because yes, UST even after they had sex? So much fun! And I have to admit that I am rather grateful someone checked the science details for me; I did some research, but in order to make it believable, it's better if someone makes sure it sounds like I know what I'm talking about. *g*

Thank you so, so much for this wonderful comment!

(By the way, I had to change the link due to host problems.)

Oh, it was so fantastic. I love the multi-media aspect of it - it really added it the story. I loved the email exchanges - that's always a soft spot for me in fic. I loved the faux interview and the fact that Merlin didn't catch on.

Basically, I thought it was super adorable. \o/

Thank you so much! I'm very, very happy you enjoyed it, and hee, I have to say that the multimedia aspect was so much fun to do. I've never done anything like it before, and this was brilliant.

(By the way, I had to change hosts due to the first one taking the page down, so the link is a different one now.)

It was a pre-reading comment, because my post-reading status was mostly: *HAPPY SEAL HANDS*

BUT I am now somewhat more coherent, and can I just say how HAPPY I am that you're writing epic Merlin fic? :D I love that you have somehow completely eradicated the sleaze from the situation, and made it adorable and charming. I love that Merlin is strong in his own right, and that he isn't a victim down on his luck. I love that Arthur is somehow a noble strip club owner, and that his and Merlin's relationship started completely the wrong way round, then progressed through friendship and eventual love. The secondary characters were great. I loved Lance, and Morgana was lovely in her obvious affection for her brother and her chosen subject at uni, and ajkghakjdhgjkhg.

I LOVE the multimedia aspects, and the soundtrack. And what, okay. I just love the entire thing. ♥

You, and this comment, made me feel happier with this story than I've been since posting. Thank you, thank you. &hearts

Not making Merlin a victim was a huge part of this - I didn't want to go for the clichéd he-must-be-safe twist, because really, Merlin needs no saving. Especially not from an Arthur who's kind of lost himself. (I'm not sure everyone appreciated the irony of it, but really, it amused me greatly that instead of the stripper, it's the rich kid that needs to change their life.)

Again, hee, thank you so much! This was a wonderful comment that made me beam and flap my hands. (Also, if you loved the multimedia, you could drop inderpal a note. *g*)
