I always enjoy case based episodes and I like the old school creepy ones...[Spoiler (click to open)]and what is creepier than ghost possessed people in scary masks? The bunny was terrifying, as was the clown. I'm not a huge fan of Sheriff Donna, but she's starting to grow on me. She's hiding a lot underneath that chipper, darn tootin' mask.Anyway, suffice to say I enjoyed

it's so heavily ironic how Sam thinks he knows what a genuine relationship is... Also, how Sam's mind immediately jumps from role-playing to hustling - that's incredibly judgemental...
Yes! One of the problems with limited 3rd person (and 1st person of course) is that you have to stay in the head of the POV character. Sam's perspective is certainly only his perspective. Dean thinks that Sam is kidding himself, that he's lied or omitted a lot of the truth about himself in two of his three longest romances and in the third he was being manipulated into addiction by a demon. Sam is not exactly a poster child for healthy interpersonal relationships himself! But he still wants the long term, monogamous, hetero romantic/sexual thing, because that's his yardstick for 'normal'... He's given up on the notion of getting out of the life now, but maybe he could have something 'with another hunter

I really hope that my comment didn't come across as criticism, because it was actually meant in a "Huh, this is so interesting, I need to think more about this!" sort of way. What I really like about the limited third person narrative is that it challenges us readers and forces us to engage with the text. Which is what I was - hopefully not rudely - doing here. :)

He's given up on the notion of getting out of the life now, but maybe he could have something 'with another hunter'.What I find fascinating is that Sam actually is in a committed relationship, and he's only slowly becoming aware of it. Because even if you look at Sam and Dean's relationship from a strictly gen perspective, they aren't just brothers, they are life partners. I tend to think Dean's a little more aware of it, although he'd probably strangle me if he heard me talking about Sam and him like that. :) It was a really big step for Sam to admit in

Not rudely at all! I love to talk about this stuff. I just wanted to expand on my thoughts a little more, hence my lengthy reply! Like you, I was coming from a place of 'oh this is all so interesting, I want to talk about this more!'
And yes, they very much are platonic life partners. And Dean, as you say, seems quite content with that and happy to get his sexual/romantic needs from a series of micro relationships and get all the other stuff you'd expect out of a life partner from his relationship with Sam. And yes, Sam...doesn't seem to be quite there yet, seems to still harbour a desire for some sort of 'normal'. :D
Hey! This was awesome. And first off, I'd like to definitely agree that Dean is absolutely my fantasy. Just sayin'. Anyway, this was excellent. I loved hearing about that discussion from Sam's side. I don't think he meant anything bad by what he was saying to her and I really think that he was actually thinking of Donna when he brought it up to her. Maybe he was thinking that since Doug 1 was such a creep, that she deserved to experience a friendship or more with someone who actually cared about her. And omg, the cage. I can't tell you how excited I am by the potential of this storyline. Adam!! Thanks for this! *hugs*
I think that all of us who appreciate the male form have had the odd fantasy or twelve about Dean Winchester!!
Thank you for your lovely comments. I absolutely agree that Sam was trying to be a caring friend and nothing more, but I also think that Donna was justifiably wary (IRL dogged persistence is actually a red flag rather than a 'good guy' sign) and I think she needed to take the time to be certain, before heading into another relationship.
And yes, I'm pretty pleased that we might be getting a closer look at the Cage! I do hope they get Adam out. That would be nice. :D
