Fic: The calm before the storm (episode 10.11 coda)

I loved this week's episode.[Spoiler (click to open)]I love Charlie and I love Sam and Dean (obviously!) and I really like the dynamic between the three of them. I also really liked having an episode that focused on the boys. And yes, yes, anvils. But there was also some nice non-verbal acting, with lots of lovely expressions from both Sam and Dean

Dean Winchester is a persona. His brother gets up every morning and puts him on; uses him to cover his frayed and bloodied insides; the open wound that is his soul; the soft, sensitive squishy bits that would break too easily without the tough outer shell. One of the best descriptions of Dean I've ever seen.

He’s giving him home; a safe space where he can be himself without judgement. This seems to be exactly what Sam's doing. He's been so calm, so supportive even when Dean's gone off the rails.

And Dean does love Charlie. Hurting her like that's got to be tearing him up even more than he already is.

Excellent look at that episode and what's going on in the boys' heads.

What you say about Dean and how Sam's trying to be there for him and not pushing him is so true and a perfect portrait of their current on-screen relationship.

Thank you so much! I just feel like there's so much going on beneath the surface with Sam at the moment and although Jared is doing a great job with the non-verbal acting, there hasn't been a chance to really explore Sam's head space in Show. :)
