Fic: A momentary lapse of reason

Oct 23, 2014 22:49

The reveals have now been posted for spn_summergen, which means I can now claim my story!

This was my first time participating in this challenge and it was a lot of fun. I got an awesome prompt which I really enjoyed writing for. I have also decided that seeing as this challenge is called summergen, it is perfectly okay that I probably won't finish reading all ( Read more... )

Thank you so much! I was really delighted by the prompt I received as I'm a big fan of post-Hell stories too. :)

Ayyy, nice job! I really loved your take on post-hell!Dean. I definitely think there were deep consequences from that trauma, and cynophobia was a really interesting and believable one to explore. I think your characterisation was very true to canon too, spot on for season 4. The implication about Dean doing 'chores' for motel owners was a chilling detail that really stood out for me. And Cas's brief cameo was very much appreciated, hehe. My fav thing though had to be Sam with his compassionate face on, wanting to talk to Dean about his phobia. The description there just cracked me up, I could really picture the exact face you were talking about XD Thanks for posting!

Wow. What a lovely comment. Thank you so much! :)
I was delighted when I got this prompt, because I'm also quite sure there were deep consequences to the trauma of Hell that Show didn't really get to explore properly and cynophobia seemed very credible to me too!
I'm so happy that the characterisations seemed right and I'm so pleased that you could picture the exact compassionate Sammy face I was talking about! Poor Dean... he took one look at that face and fled so that he wouldn't have to talk! :)

Hey, no problem! :) Yes, exactly! There was so much going on at that point that they really didn't give enough time for Dean to process everything and recover - that's where awesome fanfic writers come in, hehe. xx

This was so great. There definitely wasn't enough exploration of how traumatized Dean was, and I love this take on it. Especially Cas coming and taking it away, I could see that being what happened in the show, since the angels needed him to be on top of his game.

Thank you for this!

Thank you so much! I completely agree, which is why I was delighted to get this prompt. My only issue was the fact that Dean clearly didn't have cynophobia on Show, and it takes a while to cure phobias and no way would Dean have wasted time on something like that. Luckily we have angels at our disposal and it did make sense that Cas would take the fear away, knowing that Dean needed to be on top of his game, as you say. :)
Glad you enjoyed. :)

Excellent back-from-Hell Dean denying his feelings and Sam knowing Dean's not being honest.

Whenever I see a new story from you I am excited :)
