Cat bites and Drabblematic...

Jun 10, 2018 12:09

A few weeks back I was editing my Big Bang when my cat Mishka decided to come across and bite my hand. Perhaps my wiggling fingers on the keyboard were a tempting target, or maybe it was a hint that I should've been using my hands to pet her, not my laptop. Either way, she put a hole in me and, long story short, a few days later I was in hospital, ( Read more... )

Oh wow, cellulitis is nasty! I'm glad you are ok now!

Meanwhile, I'm cracking up at Jared's lonely token of his wrinkled love. And the brussell sprouts!!!

Thanks. And yes. I was lucky, the intravenous antibioyics did the trick. If that hadn't worked I was looking at surgery to flush the infection from my tendons. Yikes.

And lol. I mean, who doesn't love a hot pillow?

You're the second person recently to get bitten by their cat - blooming kitties!

"It is but a lonely token of my wrinkled love." - no wonder Jensen had to stroke it, hee hee!

So sorry to hear you've had cellulitis, it sounds horrible, I hope you're feeling much better.

Haha, yes. I was particularly pleased that they stroked each other all night long! :D

I couldn't use my right hand for a week and could barely use it for the second week. It's still a bit sore. But it actually could've been a lot worse, so I'm grateful.

Thank you. It could've been much worse. Luckily the intravenous antibiotics worked, or I would've had to have surgery to flush the infection from the tendons. Yikes.

Geez, now it sounds even more serious. 😱 I'm glad you're all better.

This reminded me of a story I heard on a tv show, I think it was called "Monsters Inside Me." A guy worked at the shipyards and was around sea water all the time. One day, his hand started to hurt and a hard, crusty thing was growing on his skin. He went to the doctor multiple times and kept getting an incorrect diagnosis over and over. No one could figure out what was going on. The hard thing just kept getting bigger and bigger.

Finally, the man got a doctor who was more interested in finding out what was in his hand rather than sending him away with an easy diagnosis. Turns out the guy had a wound on his hand when he went to work and a BARNACLE got into his hand and attached to a tendon. Then it started to grow. That was the hard, crusty thing growing out of his palm! Isn't that amazing (and horrible)?!

Hey you! I'm so glad you're ok! Scary! This drabble was hilarious. And of course they stroked each other all night long. *giggle*

[Nods] Of course they did. ;)

I feel like I should start making PSAs about cat bites to the hand, because they're so flippin' dangerous and most of us have no idea! I was just gobsmacked. Especially when they started talking about me maybe needing surgery. Like, for real? From that tiny little pin prick of a bite?

That's terrifying. I'm deathly allergic so I've never had a cat. If I'm in a room with a cat, my eyes fill with pus, i break out in welts on my skin, and my lungs start wheezing while my throat closes up. It's awful. So i really didn't know that. All of this being said, i looooove cats. All the videos I watch, they just crack me up. Do they just not bite very often? Is it just on the hand that this happens but not, say, on the leg? Sorry for all the questions. This is just something I've never heard of before. Again, I'm sooo happy you're ok. *hugs*

Oh no. That's a pretty severe cat allergy. You poor thing. :(
I've always had cats and Mishka is my furbaby. I still love her, even though she bit the hand that feeds her, quite literally!!! She just got a bit carried away, she wasn't being mean.
It's only really hand bites that are so dangerous. I mean, any bite *can* get infected, but the hand is very susceptible because everything is so close to the surface, all those tendons and things. I've never had a cat bite me before. Sometimes they play fight/bite, but never before has one of my cats broken my skin. :)

WOW, I didn't know a cat bite could get that serious! This is not like the cute story of Harrison Ford getting his ear pierced by a girl (on purpose) and signing an autograph saying, "You put a hole in me, Harrison Ford". MEEP!

And Umm the Drabble-matic machine must have got the good drugs LOL! Quite the story : ))))

Yeah, I didn't know either. I was gobsmacked. Especially when they started telling me I might need surgery to drain the infection from my tendons and flush the insides with antibiotics. I think my eyebrows probably quite literally disappeared into my hairline! It was such a tiny pin prick of a bite and it caused so much internal damage!!!

And yes, the drabble-matic machine is definitely on the good stuff, that's for sure!!!
