Yay! You're here!
I've been waiting (kind of impatiently) for a Ben Edlund episode. One of the earlier eps had a BE vibe to it in the teaser, but it ended up being the 2 guys, whatever their names are.
I see they're using several different directors this year. At least Guy Bee got to come back. (He wondered why they never invited him back, since "Asylum" was such a well-received episode.)

I really hope Ben never leaves. I hope he sticks around until the show ends. So many come and go, and there seems to be a lot of new ones this year--you can really tell when someone who's been around a while and really knows the show writes an ep. Dabb and Loflin have gotten better, but still. No Raelle Tucker or Jeremy Carver.
As for Sam and his soul ... I did want to say, "Dean, honey, if you're trying to sell your brother the value of having a soul, you're pretty much blowing it." I understood Dean's frustration, good lord, I did! But defining life as a whole human as a state of pain ... that wouldn't endear anyone to the concept of having a soul.
What I'm thinking, sort of vaguely, is that Sam remembers Hell, and by remembering Hell, he undoubtedly remembers some pretty horrific pain. So for him to come to the idea that maybe he'd be better of with his soul ... and then have his brother very passionately insist that deprivation (sit in the dark alone and feel the loss, etc) and suffering are the human status quo? Is probably the wrong set of buttons to hit.
So I'm wondering if Dean didn't accidentally hit some trigger in Sam that abruptly has him back-pedaling on the whole soul thing.

Guess we'll find out ...
