Planning for School

In just a few months I will be signing in to my new school for the up-coming 2008-2009 academic year.  I will be doing a lot of reading and quite a bit of writing.  Of course, the writing will not be by long hand with pen and paper.  Nay, not even with chalk and board.  The writing will be by typing.  Using the skills I first learned in 1984 I will ( Read more... )

The nice thing about using a MAC - it's like riding an ibike. Even though you have not used one in several years - I believe that all the same qualities that educational institutions know and love are still there - and remain the same over time. I'm seriously considering a Mac for my next laptop. I went over to the dark side about ten years back because I was sick of being the poor relation on the software shelf, but all the Windows computers I've had since then have run OK for maybe a year and then developed increasingly severe problems. I'm currently reinstalling Vista and I'll likely lose a lot of stuff in the process.

I just want a computer that does what it is supposed to and doesn't crumble away into uselessness. Given the superb user interface of my iPhone, I want the same sort of elegance in my computer.

Good point about the MAC software being last to be updated!

I don't think it's really the case anymore. At home I have a PC and I *wish* I had a MAC - as you say, every time it crashes or needs updates or old software needs to be reinstalled I lose stuff.

With a MAC, at least the newer ones, I haven't had one crash. AND the software is easily installed and I've lost NOTHNG.

O.k. - let's all go get matching new MACs!
