Bobby Yankou Rules!

Of course your reaction is to question the validity of the source, and to become defensive when you are accused of being a corporate slave or whatever. I definitely would have reacted the same way when I was around your age. (After all I supported George W. Bush for president in 2000; I was 16. And by the way, this has nothing to do with age, there ( Read more... )

I love you so much.

I love Bobby too.

Tell him that it is awesome to be able to witness (through your LJ) him go through this difficult, scary, and powerful time of life. He will lose old friends. Make new friends. Figure out where he stands and why. And learn how to express how he feels about it all. Taking stands while being open to learn new things is mighty mighty mighty.

His "friends", the ones who commented sound like pricks and terrify me a little. I know that attitude isn't rare.

I have old friends who are just the same.

Fucking Westchester man.

Fucking USA.

Tell Bobby I have his back.

Seriously.

Kimya, thank you so much for supporting my effort and understanding where/what I am coming from. I go to a Catholic school (Iona), so I'm used to people who have no problem using Christianity to justify their actions and who frequently demean other religions such as Islam and even Judaism as a whole by stereotype and ignorance. I've been around it for pretty much my whole life and am only starting to try to open up to a new and more reasonable environment. Thankfully, I have my brothers and their friends who understand my perspective and can show these other people that there are actually people who understand and believe in what I'm talking about. Also, I love you too.

Fucking Westchester/ USA indeed! It's like, we're all up against a giant monster and owe it to ourselves and to the world to not be scared to call things as we see them. I'm really pumped that Bobby is on board. I love you so much too!

I saw the note the other day on facebook. Good work, bobby. For all the negative comments you got, you gotta believe there were other people who saw it and it shifted their perspective just enough.

It's harder for people to stand up for what they believe in than to lash out at what they're afraid of.

It's great to see at least one high schooler (especially in Iona Prep and ESPECIALLY in Westchester) who doesn't just go along with whatever his parents tell him to believe.

I was so depressed that all the comments fit into 2 distinct categories: People who already feel strongly that our media is broken (and all that goes along with it), and people who think Bobby and are are psycho conspiracy theorists. I was like, "no one's opinion changed at all!"

But Bobby said he has been speaking to friends who didn't reply and lots of them were like, "Yeah, that's fucked up. I can't believe stuff like that is happening in America! It's really alarming." I was so glad to hear it, and I realized that those 2 groups don't represent everyone who replied, they represent people who felt really strongly on each side. No one was going to post, "Wow. This is nuts, but I'm not sure how I feel about it. I really gotta think this over." But in fact, a lot if not most of the readers were probably thinking along those lines. That made me feel better.

btw, wassup dude!? Also I tried to update noats.com and had problems. /mt/mt.cgi doesn't exist. Any idea why that might be?
