When it rains it pours.

Immediately on buying my new car I get a phone call for the art that I was getting framed months ago is ready to go.  Now I'm flat broke, and I REALLY want to continue my guitar lessons.  Then the other day I discovered Etsy (thanks Mon ><) which seems perfect for my clothes buying needs.  I've been slowly replacing my ( Read more... )

I know what you mean man, as soon as I get any kind of money saved up it gets used on something, I've been working full time for almost 4 years now and I have absolutely no savings to show for it. :S

Money escapes me really fast if I don't keep track of it.
A lot of it goes on food and drinks. A lot.

Jess is right bring food from home. And a bottle of water.
If you need to buy something to eat when you're out pop by the supermarket instead of the food court.

I stopped buying clothes for like 6 months. It is possible XD

Good luck!

It's possible for even longer than that! I'm one who buys clothes on a need to buy basis, which usually requires another piece of clothing to die first. XD

my favorite black vest has died, but still wear it cause its nice, and i can't find it again :(

Keeping track and budgeting is a good idea... though I certainly don't practice what I preach... D:

Ooooh I wish to be like you. I cannot retire a piece of clothing... I'm not going to wear it but I'm not sure what to do with it so it sits there as a dust collector :(

Form fitting clothes is always a good idea.

Zan, you're going to need to be harsher on yourself if you really want to budget better. What people said above, about bringing food from home, is a really good place to start. Set aside a chunk of money to go grocery shopping with. Spend said money on groceries, and then make sure you eat the stuff you buy (feel bad about any food that ends up going off).

As for the other hobbies/ideas you want to chase, set aside ye olde money jar, stick a label on it indicating what the money is for, and start saving up.

Actually, I'm thinking of starting up a jar and saving the money on the days I don't buy a coffee. If my will power holds out, then I will earn a pretty penny over time. Wanna do the same thing with me?

Soon I won't have time for spending money, or doing much of anything. That might work well enough. Making lunch and stop wasting food are certainly things I need to get better at though.
