Of the lands of Ice and Fire

I hoped my last entry would snap me awake a bit so that I could get some study done, but I'm still too lazy.  I want to read more of these books, but they just make me feel guilty for wanting to ( Read more... )

That seems like a pretty interesting series actually, I might see if I can get my hands on the audiobooks as I'm far too lazy to read paper books these days. :/

Something about audio books puts me off, I think I rather my inner monologue over voice overs, I find it more engrossing.

I'm sure that they exist for these books though.

I did some wiki'ing of the HBO series, Sean Bean will play the father. The chick from Sarah Connor (who played Sarah Connor) will play Cersei Lannister... evil chick. Thought she would've been better playing the mother figure tbh. The dwarf dude in Death at a Funeral and a billion other movies will be in it as well, as one of the main characters. The character rocks in the books. Looking forward to it.

I never really thought I'd get into audiobooks to be honest, I only started because I was spending so much time in the car each day that it was a great use of the time. I mostly started with non-fiction books, but after a while I did start listening to a bunch of fiction ones as well, and it can be hit and miss to be honest.
Some are really good because the narration is perfect, especially when it's the author doing it, Neil Gaiman is fantastic at this for example, but others just ruin it almost completely by bad character voices and the like.

Honestly if I had more time and was more relaxed I'd read far more, but I find myself unable to really concentrate on books these days unless I'm on the train, or unable to do anything else.

I'll definitely check out the HBO series too when it comes out.

scrub reader is what i was thinking all the way thru reading this

ice and fire is one of the most celebrated series, it's pretty mainstream and it's definitely very good

don't think it's actually that heavy in terms of violence/cruelty etc but i haven't read it in a while ... or maybe the other stuff is just worse ... adult fantasy writers lose control a lot :/
