It felt horribly ironic to Kaito that he would be wearing Hakuba’s face when he pulled Edogawa Conan’s battered body out of the river. Long-ingrained discipline kept him in character even in the most trying of circumstances. As such, he currently appeared far more calm than he actually was. I love that line from the movie. Kaito cares about the Shonen-tantei, but I was always certain the 'someone precious' was Shinichi. I've been trying to figure out exactly when Kaito realized Conan's identity, but I haven't seen all of their interactions in chronological order. He almost certainly suspected something from their first meeting with the Black Pearl, since Conan just *can't* act like a kid in front of a cornered criminal with no witnesses. I sometimes wonder if the people he's put in jail ever get together and compare notes.

Yes, yes, yes. It's just like Kaito to just tell the truth in a situation like that, but that begs the question: who was he talking about? Someone precious...Shinichi's the only one that makes sense.
I've never figured it out, either, but I have yet to write anything set early enough in their relationship to matter. *laughs* And Conan, god bless him, has yet to learn the concept of subtlety. He can be sneaky all day long, but subtle? Not a chance. He can't even act like a kid in front of a cornered criminal with witnesses, half the time. He's just blessed with shounen-hero-secret-keeping mojo. *grin* People in jail comparing notes would be hilarious, though.

Kid/Shinichi/Conan interaction is always so fun to look at, since Conan becomes so excited whenever Kid shows up, and they match each other, and they're both so brilliant and snarky (... and that totally wasn't a run on sentence from excitement)

They really are great, aren't they? I just love playing with those two. And I totally don't have to edit an ungodly number of run on sentences out of every single thing I write. *whistles*
