Oh! So short, but so... wow...

I have no idea who Detective Conan is, but... the emotional play through this is just gorgeous.

This is Edogawa Conan. He used to be teenaged Kudo Shinichi until he was force-fed a poison that de-aged him. He's a brilliant detective and a fierce protector, so the thrust of his story is how he tries to take down the organization that fed him the poison. Haibara Ai used to be Miyano Shiho, the scientist who made the poison, and who took it herself when she was left with no other way out. (*grin* For some reason, I tend to use the proper Japanese order for the names in this series, but not in Bleach. Go figure.) I started reading/watching it for the mysteries, and stayed for the characters. I highly recommend it.

I'm glad you enjoyed the little ficlet, particularly since you don't know Detective Conan. I wanted to convey a sense of kinship, regret tempered with knowledge, and responsibility for the ones they've hurt, whether you knew what each of them felt that way for or not. So, thank you.

Yeah, that latter part really, really came out... That Urahara did feel responsibility for that. I thought that was really amazingly well done.

So you got the full effect, then. *smiles* I take people being rendered speechless as a high compliment, indeed. Thank you.

Oh. I don't really know Bleach at all, but this is lovely. The regrets you've richly earned, and the faint hopes that in some way you will be able to redeem yourself, and a simple moment of understanding of everything you mean and wish you'd meant and can't really say...

As I said, lovely.

I always appreciate being blamed for good fanfic. :) What makes this more amusing, for me, is the fact that Urahara and Ai are both TOTALLY Shadow on the Morphin Grid... she's a Blue and he's a screaming Purple, but definitely both shadow. (And hmm, given Purple/Green interaction tendencies, that throws a little support behind your Urahara/Ichigo shipping.)

Anyway, beautiful story, absolutely love it.

*big grin* Thank you, glad you liked it! Ichigo and Conan are sorting themselves out for a sequel, but no clue when it'll happen.

You don't say... Makes sense, though. Urahara's a chessmaster. If you're his, you're his. If you're not...well, you'd rather be his. Even a pawn's better than an enemy with him. *shrugs* At least that's what the ones in my head say. And don't get me started on Benihime...

I'll take any justification for my 'ships that I can get. *laughs* Not that I really need any, truth be known.

... Now there's a scary interaction. Ichigo's gonna remind Conan ENTIRELY too much of Hattori.

Yes, Urahara's a chessmaster. Also a Magnificent Bastard, if you read the TV Tropes Wiki. (tvtropes.org if you haven't. You will never look at media the same way again.) And no, you definitely don't want to be the enemy of a Shadow Purple. Because they will go over and/or THROUGH you to get what they want and protect their precious people. And nothing else will matter.

Yeah, if a 'ship calls to you, it calls to you, justified or not. Personally, I will avoid any ship that's been contradicted by canon, but I'll sometimes ship ones that haven't been supported.

Yeeeah, that's actually the least of the weirdness they're getting up to.

*grin* Do I ever. That site's one of my favorite time-wasters.
...
Kisuke says that he's just fine calling the dance from the sidelines, for now, so long as he can ensure that none of his enemies live to write home about it. Kisuke is also mixing his metaphors, but try telling him that. This particular Kisuke is...slightly different from some of my others, especially in how he sees Ichigo. *stops, reads over that last paragraph* Dammit. This is bigger than I thought it was. Again.

*grin* 'Ships are secondary for me, half the time. The only 'ships I avoid are the ones I can't justify from the characters, if that makes any sense. Heck, I've even written stuff for ships I really don't care for, just because I liked the story. Of course, then there's my OTPs and other favorites, and all bets are off for them. Oddly enough, I don't have a preferred 'ship for Detective Conan.
