Emacs on Ubuntu

Ubuntu doesn't include emacs in the default install.

vi is there, of course.

hence the reason that Unix classes insist that everybody learn vi. (or at least the ones I took did). As an instructor told me, "there are a multitude of easier text editors, but every installation of a Unix or Unix-like OS anywhere on earth will have vi".
