Terminator and The Matrix

I seem to recall reading in someone's LJ, most likely datan0de's, the possibility that the Terminator and Matrix series could theoretically be the same universe / continuity. Anyone care to discuss further or have places to point me to read about others discussing it further

Both movies have fulfilled their trilogies now, right? The studios should look into a cross-over release! I mean, everyone loved AvP and FvJ, right?

Terminator has had four movies and a TV series. I feel like they'd be reluctant to give anything up at this point.

From what I've heard, the tv series doesn't exactly match in continuity with the last movie.

The only person I've seen mention it is arctangent; the only LJ reference I can find is here, where it actually happens to be addressed to you. I know I saw him write a lot more about it somewhere, but can't find any evidence on LJ, so it must have been an AIM conversation.
