As in emotional value, a few pieces of jewelry that were gifts from my boyfriend or family members (I generally appreciate the cheaper ones more than the expensive ones), and the ashes of Peeper and Gabe.
As in useful items, the thumb drives I use for work. I don't back them up frequently enough. :-P
Funny, considerate, similar tastes in music, similar values in life, intellectual, scientific. One of the reasons we were doomed as a couple though is that his values in life were always a bit more centrist than mine. It's not that he minded my values, but he wouldn't think to stretch them and was surprised when I asked him to do so. I must say I forget now why we actually broke up, other than just "stresses of grad school." He and his wife are VERY compatible in their values, and I think they made an excellent choice in each other.
At a community college (aka junior college, aka 2-year college) in New England. More than that I am unwilling to say in an unlocked post, my apologies. I've already had a student run across me on LJ, I don't want more. :-P
Did you intend to teach at CTY for more than one year?
And, relatedly: what was your policy on friending CTY students on LJ? I know you don't want your current students finding you, so did that same kind of reasoning factor into how you decided to friend students you met there?
1) When I applied to CTY, my situation was that I'd recently learned that I was being kicked out of grad school, and I was panicked because my world had been turned upside down and I had no clue what I was going to do (or how I would even feed myself, though I've always known I could go back "home" to my parents if I had to). T$ came across the CTY job application online, and suggested I apply as a stop-gap, and I did so. When applying I had no thoughts further than surviving another few months

1) Alfred University, in Western NY, famous for ceramic art and ceramic engineering. At my high school it also had a reputation of being a "financial safety" - i.e., they gave lots of merit-based scholarships.
2) Not at this time. We see no need for the fuss and are happy with our lives as they are. We have no need for the benefits of marriage or civil union at this time, though that could change in the future.
