Couldn't sleep this morning. Woke up at 4am thinking about some code I had worked on a few months ago. Brain revved up, so I figured I was hosed for going back to bed. I found the code I was thinking about, but remembered that I hadn't designed it well for testability, and that I wanted to be able to verify every last line of code in that sucker ( Read more... )

Do you own DNSalias.com? That may be even dorkier than arjache's deeness.net.

That would be indeed, but no. dnsalias.com is one of many hostnames owned by dyndns.com, who offer a convenient service to poor cable users like me who can't guarantee a static IP. Through the use of some cron + perl magick, you can get your computer to auto-update your IP information on their server, and they will happily update their DNS pointers for you (limited to a few times a day, I'm sure, but I don't reboot the cable modem that often...). The service is free for subdomains of some list of 50 domains, I think you can grab up to five for free, actually.

Aaaand that's all the advertising I feel like writing in exchange for the service they provide me :)
