Anime North 2009 Report!

May 26, 2009 14:32

This was the first AN since 2003 where I didn't participate in the artist alley, and I have to say it was really refreshing! :)

Instead of getting a table and sitting behind it for the entire convention, I opted to go with the art show Gallery Momiji and showcase and sell several of my works on canvas. Up until the night before the convention, I ( Read more... )

Yeah, that's one of the sad realities with anime conventions. Fanart sells. It's almost like saying sex sells... XDDD

TCAF sounds really inticing to try out! :) I'll have to keep an eye on that for next year.

I haven't gone to Fanexpo for the last two years, and that trend will probably continue. I just sort of lost interest in that convention altogether. Although going down for the Saturday only might be a possibility.

*lmao* it's sad but true!

I was so glad I went to TCAF this year. Free admission too, always a bonus :)

Here's the TCAF website if you want to bookmark it. Also, here's the blog of Christopher Butcher, manager of the Beguiling. I think he might announce things before they go on the TCAF site. Or at least his blog has a feed. I guess he's the one to contact about getting a table at the event, I'm not sure. I figure it's too soon to ask about that!

I've generally gone to Fanexpo more for the sci-fi events. It's not worth attending for anime anymore, hasn't been for years. I skipped last year because the programming didn't seem worth it for the entrance fee. I heard later that they made the mistake of scheduling the Brent Spiner I&I in a small room. *sigh* they never learn...

I haven't gone to AN in years. It's a longer ride by public transit for me and I tend to go to cons alone for the most part, so I try to only go when there's a good number of events that interest me. But maybe I will try it again in the future :)

I know! I was wondering after the convention why I didn't see you, but then I remembered you were part of the Crafter's Corner, of which I did not go through. :(

Yeah, Nominoichi was pretty awesome. It was a great feeling finally liberating myself of all the anime stuff that I had been holding on to for YEARS. ^__^

^^ Thanks for the purchase!
I love the way you designed the Rukia canvas and still hope to get a print of it! (Honestly, I'm not a big Bleach fan; I just find it to be a fun read. What you did, however, is gorgeous.)

Andrew (my fiancé) can read Japanese! What japanese-language manga do you have left?

Also, doujinka fest during the AN hallowe'en dance! They promise details soon.

We've been wondering about doing a TCAF but it's all a question on what they accept in. You may have read about it in re-loves LJ already ;)

You're very welcome! You're gonna keep bugging about her, aren't you? lol XD Don't you worry, I'll make sure you're the very first person who gets a copy! ^__^

Does he? Awesome. :) Here are the books I've got left:

D.N. Angel 1 - 3
Fruits Basket 9 - 11
Oniichan to Issho 3
P2 -let's play Ping Pong!- 1
Trigun Maximum 1
Yu-Gi-Oh 1 - 6

Yeah, the Doujinka Festival during the dance should be interesting! I just hope they don't schedule is right on the 31st, because I am more than likely going to be in New York City at that time! It's been like 9 years since I've last been, so I'd rather not miss out on going back again. :)

I should look back at her entries for that. :)

ahahaha~! *feels special now*
Honestly, yours is the first Bleach artwork that I thought "Whoa! Stunning!" Come to think of it, even if you had some kind of ethereal figure on it instead of Rukia, I'd still be really wanting a print...or maybe the original.

I'll go over your manga list with him and see if he wants any of them. (I think the only one he's missing is the last one of Trigun Maximum, which he's procrastinating to get.)

Thanks!
