It probably stems from the negative outlook that most of the population held for witches and the idea that witches were in consort with all kinds of evil otherworldly beings. The saying continues along the thread of dehumanizing the witch. *shrugs* Just a theory.

Funny you should ask. I was walking around naked in my living room and my breasts were getting cold and when Merlin commented on it, I quoted that particular line. *chuckles* He returned with, "but you're not a witch". Technically, I suppose I'm not, but some people would classify me that way.

Um, since brass is a fairly good thermal conductor, and Witches are portrayed as generally frigid females....
