Something called "Rez Week" is happening at my university; Rez Week is short for 'Resurrection Week', and it's where a bunch of tents are set up at a specific area, around a stage where a christian band occasionally plays, free coffee and stuff is given, some signs for public responses to a handfull of questions are put up, and people mill around ( Read more... )

What Christian denomination are they? You seem to be referring to Protestant Christianity as a whole, but they're incredibly varied, and depending on the sect, almost alien ( ... )

Nngh--I see it more as an application of a clumsy idea that's well meant, but not thought through. I have my own very specific ideas, which sound like they're fairly similar to what yours are, but I walked into those conversations with a very firm personal stance: I stand wherever I want to stand in any of those conversations, I talk to whoever I want to talk with, I extend friendship to whoever I want to, and no one is going to get any further than I want them to. ... ALSO. I don't know what specific sect they were--the only girl I asked said she didn't hold to any particular denomination, but said 'Protestant' by way of answer. I haven't asked anyone else, though I suppose I should, even if only to know who all these ideas belong to when I remember them in hindsight.

Ooooh, warning bells galore, that. A lot of domionist Christians will say that, and they're about as related to Christianity as Al Qaeda is related to Islam.

I'm part of a dominionist watch community called dark_christianJesus camp, you'll see their philosophy applied to young, impressionable children. Sarah Palin has tons of connections to their groups, as does the Tea Party.

If you were anyone else I would worry about getting too close to them.
