First Differential Equations test of the Semester is tomorrow (or the next day, if I want to miss the post-test-review for the last test's class.) It's the same drill as before, except with even less preparation and more complex material ( Read more... )

Probably not helpful, but the way I cut back on the amount of fan fiction I read was becoming pickier about what I was willing to read. I stopped reading things that were just regurgitations of well-trodden ideas - with a few exceptions. I rolled my eyes at cliche summaries and walked away. I started caring about how someone tried to sell their story, especially when it came to any mention of romance. Please do not try to sell your idea based on what the pairing is.

Now it's gotten to the point that I almost don't browse FFN at all. I sometimes check my favorites list for updates, sometimes check the favorites lists of authors I like, and on rare occasions go trawling the site itself, but for the most part? I don't bother. I just tell myself that most of what I want to read just isn't being written.

That sounds like a good idea, actually. Especially useful, since I've freaking already read everything immediately available.

I already refrain from going near most cliche summaries, and pairings in general tend to turn me away, but if I broaden my pickiness even beyond those requirements... Hmm.
