I had mixed feelings about Perry. On one hand, I liked that he wanted students to push themselves and stretch their thought-processes in an age when a lot of education is dumbed-down. However, I disliked that he felt he had to be insulting and abrasive in order to do this. I got the feeling that, like many of the young children I now work with, he made many comments just to get a rise out of someone, not to actually make a point or to improve his students' educations. Also, he repeated himself endlessly and I thought it was time he opened up and stretched his own mind beyond his entrenched opinions

I remember hearing Kat and Des talk about Perry, but never took any classes. Wasn't there something with a dinky knife?
Reading this reminds me of Robinson, back at OHS. He also thought school shouldn't be dumbed down, and the education system needed revamping, and we heard about it ad nauseum. When he taught, he taught wonderfully, but each year he spent less time teaching and more time ranting, and the rants tended to verge on student harrasment.
Seriously, they sound made for each other -- both the good and the bad.
