My most burning thoughts throughout this episode:

Arthur is the most awesome pawn in the existence of pawns. (Also - HOT!)

The level for Gwaine/Merlin slash just skyrocketed by like, a billion. Jeeezus.

I really liked this episode for all the reasons you stated. Plus love the Arthurian legend in there, too!

I think one of the reasons I am able to love this show so much is that I wouldn't know authentic Arthurian Legend if it bit me in the ass. :D
