:)

To link to an Lj user, you type <*lj user="name_here"*>, without the *. This works for personal journals and communities.

If you want, I can turn that into an animation... I'm not great at it, but you did most of the work, so I should manage ^_^

Good luck with the postcard.

How does lj know whether it's a personal journal or a community (just curious)?

I would love if you could turn it into an animation for me. Thank you!

My animation turned out to be 71k, which is way too big. :) Will try some more stuff, but ImageReady really isn't what I'm best at.

About LJ... I presume they have a database of some kind... don't know.

The colors got a little wacky because the file size had to be lowered so it's under LJ's limit. I thiiiiiiiiiink it is now, but I didn't test it.

Thanks for the advice (and the animating, of course)! I'll definitely take a look into the possibilities (there might be a very very old version of photoshop lying around the house somewhere) and learn to use something besides Paint (I think I forgot somewhere along the way about watching out for the file size limit...and I don't know how much animating an icon adds...not much?). Maybe I'll go back and make a nicer version. Heck, it'd be a good way to learn, actually.

I'm really awful at animated icons. Like, this Ronon one was originally about three times as long and it was SO EFFING HOT but then, woe! It was like FIVE MILLION TIMES LARGER THAN THE LIMIT. So that ended in tragedy, by which I mean a much less sexy icon. And I don't see many animated icons around, probably because they're so labor-intensive and confusing to make. With a still icon, it'd be pretty hard (maybe impossible) to go over the file size limit, even saving your jpegs at highest quality.

I can't wait to see what you come up with after you're no longer constrained by the limitations of Paint. Your icons are all pretty funny, and funny icons are THE BEST.

Heh, I love the "talk to the hair" and Shep's woobie eyes! I'm still too chicken much of a newbie to post up icons on atlantis_icons. :)

I think maybe I'm just shameless. I really want to make friends in the fandom, and I figure if I mostly lurk, that won't ever happen, but if I post even the stuff I make when I'm just learning, I'll start having conversations with people. You should post your icons!

Sounds like the consensus is I should get Photoshop. And I will, I just have to figure out some computer issues I've been having first. And, you know, stop procrastinating.
