I received the following response from our Senator over my recent message to him regarding the horrifying legislation passed by the House to remove federal funding from Planned Parenthood. I'm glad to hear that at least one of my senators feels the same way as I do.

I'm afraid I completely disagree with you on Planned Parenthood, however. It's not about womens' rights, but rather the rights of the unborn. I support the House's vote to remove Federal funding for Planned Parenthood. If you support it, donate your own personal money to the cause. But the collective treasury of the people (to which I contribute by paying my taxes) should not be used to fund it.
Cheers!

To me, that's criminal. It's nonsensical. Like most of the bills that our government puts together, it smacks of personal agendas more than advancing our nation as a whole. If you want to support the anti-choice movement, that's all well and good, but lets not forget what this particular bill is about by blinding ourselves to the entirety of the services that this organization provides.

Indeed. I doubt either of us will sway the other on this issue, but I appreciate your viewpoint, as well.
