Zack stared restlessly at the ceiling, like he did every night, fighting the urge to fidget. The lights out period at McKinley Mental Hospital for the Criminally Insane was much to long for him, and he spent most of every night awake, lying obediently on his bed.
It wasn't really any worse than the rest of his day, and being obedient meant that he might actually get to leave someday, so he usually complied easily. Tonight he seemed less able to lie still, not surprising, given how little activity he had been able to engage in... He didn't know how they thought that the patients here could sleep this long after a day with that little exertion, even if they were more normal. The irony didn't escape him, he was comparing himself to psychopaths and schizophrenics, and calling them 'normal'.
Zack sighed, sitting up. He could be called lucky, even in his current circumstances. He had one of the nicest rooms here thanks to his psychologist, and it even had a small, cramped en suite bathroom. He couldn't pace too long in his room, but if he moved to the bathroom, and then back to his bed, he might be able to get away with it.
