Yeah, the heat is dissuading me from riding as much as I was. I stopped looking at the mileage but I'm somewhere around 4300 miles on the bike since I got it. Part of it is lack of people to ride with, part of it is not being ready for the heat. I use it a lot as a commuter too and on those days when I get stuck on the I-10 in a stand still for 45 minutes in 105 degree weather, just baking under the sun, the last thing I want to do is hop back on the next day and go for a leisure ride. If I keep moving, I'm fine but those stand-stills wear me out.
I need to invest in a cooling vest tomorrow.
I love your bike though. I'm not sure I ever saw pictures of it before but she's beautiful.
Thank you! I've always liked the look of the YZF, it's the single headlight I think.
I haven't been on a ride out of the city in months. Probably since December or so. And now, unless you are out of the city by 5am you get that lovely 'opening the oven in your face' feeling riding around. What about the guys from southwestrides.com?
I know what you mean about sitting on the I-10. I had to commute to the capitol everyday and even in the HOV lane it sucked. Worse was 5pm rush hour. I used to turn the bike off because it would get close to overheating temps. And at one point, I took bottles of water with on the way home and would pour them on myself while sitting in traffic to keep cool. There are few people who can go the whole summer commuting on the bike. I don't know how they do it.
I bought the motoboss cooling vest since I never found the a joe rocket one that zips to my jacket. It works, but it does leave you a little wet after taking it off. It looks like you got caught in the rain a little.
