Yeah I did notice the list so I was thankful that the mangakas are safe and sound, let's just hope for the best for Japan right now.

OMG that it took you a week to know if you're cousin was safe or not, why did it took that long though.

Seems they've getting new hits, coming from new epicenters too. The Fukushima nuclear plant has somehow been severely damaged, but I can't understand what info is the latest. some even talk about blasts, but I hope it's journalists using exagerated words.

Well, I'm not sure either but I do know that there is one power plant that they are trying to get some coolant to cool off the core to prevent a meltdown.

if Japan hadn't been used to earthquakes and consequently been the (or amongst the) world leaders for earthquake-resistant buildings, the damage would have been even worse (well, not talking about Sendai/Miyagi, omg..). and they have a great tsunami alert system. though, with a catastrophy of this magnitude, the best precautions can't defy nature.. my heart is with the people of Japan, now and in the future months of clearing the disturbing effects!
and luckily the other tsunami threatened countries could lift their warnings. as someone said, they already had a frightened aftertaste of it.

I was really relieved when I read that JP has always been prepared for earthquakes and what not but even then look at the aftermath and there might still be the aftershock from this.

I was wondering what would happen if this happened in the US and we're not even prepared to have this kind of disaster strike us.

Let's just hope that everything will be alright and that they can start to recover from this soon. That and the nuclear power plant situation to resolve soon.

i hope that all countries realize anything could happen and start planning ahead. we don't have many catastrophies here, but if it happened, i think the structures aren't really prepared :((

yeah let's send wishes and prayers for the worst to stop and the best to happen.. nuclear is just such a bad scenario *shudder*.

y'know, i never watch news. well i've been glued to news tickers since i heard about it yesterday..

They do know that they need to prepare for it but they don't want to right now like how it is here in the US.

I heard on the news that the gov. cut the funding to the emergency plan for Hawaii (since it's in the middle of the Ring of Fire) because they don't have the budget for it.
