A Month Later, Letter to Mom

Mom

How’s everything back home? Things are going well here, especially now that the war is over. I am very glad for that. If I could, I would never see war again in this world. It is too painful, too hurtful. The clean up after is hard as well. I never knew how much work there would be after we won. There are soldiers to pay, families to help who lost their fathers and brothers, and lots and lots of papers to sign and meetings to go to.

Because of all these things to do, time with Wolfram and the Gretas is precious. Greta is recovering from her kidnapping, sticking close to our sides day and night. The other Greta is very happy to have her sister back, and this makes Wolfram all around happy. And a happy Wolfram is a very nice thing. ^__^ It’s not as easy to slip away from Gunter and Gwendal, but I can manage it with the right distraction.

Even better, I got a letter from Conrad last week. I’m just going to have Murata check over my English and then I’ll send it off with a nice pigeon. I kinda like those things. Maybe when Conrad gets home he can start learning to write Japanese though. I really, really am not good with English. You’d think all those years of trying to learn it in school…. Ah, ah! Not that I don’t work hard in school!

Conrad says he’s doing well and to not worry. I can’t wait for him to come home. Everything is quieter without him. And I have no one to play baseball with. Murata is more interested in giving me Maou lessons than throwing a ball around.

At least no one is a girl (or guy) anymore when they shouldn’t be, and my sight is back to normal. Don’t even need glasses. Murata says that they might have made me look smarter, maybe.

......... Sending mail by toilet certainly is weird, huh? I mean it’s in a plastic bag, but still…. Say hi to Shori and dad for me. I’ll try and visit home again soon. Murata says hi!
