Yeah, it really was! I've been a fan since the first season of the anime aired, and it's been my dream to visit for just as long. It still feels unbelievable that I actually managed to do it ^o^ Hopefully the new series will use some some new real-life locations, giving me an excuse to visit again, haha
Yeah, they really do! The fact that they have an official Natsume Yuujinchou tourist map of the area just proves that they're embracing the visiting fans with open arms. And it does bring a lot of people to visit local businesses too, like hotels, restaurants and hot springs facilities, so I can totally understand why.
You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it! ^^ I had lots of fun, even though I was by myself, with my Nyanko plushie as my only travel companion. But that only made me feel more Natsume-like thoughout the whole trip, I guess. =P
Wow, sounds like it was a lot of fun! Very cool that you did all that in four days. (And by yourself?? I'd get really lost!) Thanks for sharing and bringing back the memories!
Yeah, it was awesome! It took a lot of careful planning, especially with how few trains and buses there are in that area. So I had to make a schedule planning out every minute, pretty much. ^^; But I wanted to make it happen no matter what, because I don't know if I'll ever get four whole days off work again in the coming years (the joys of working in Japan... =__=; )
As for traveling alone, that turned out to be no problem! Everyone was really kind, so whenever I got lost I could just ask somebody for help. =3
Yeah, they do that at a lot of places, to boost tourism, it sems. ^o^ Here's hoping that the fifth season of the anime will boost it even more, because Kumamoto could really use some more visitors after those earthquakes, and also the recent eruption of Mt. Aso. I'm already wishing I could go again. >w<

When I visited Matsumoto in Nagano, they also had maps for the movie and anime locations for Orange at the tourist center.
