The Pony Restoration Project: Assessment of Condition

May 20, 2008 17:42

[This was written on May 18th but I didn't have a chance to put up the photos and such until now]

The following is an assessment of the pony's physical condition, judging by the standard details such as hair, symbols, and defects. There is also a suggested "treatment" for all defects.

Well, if some moisture gets in there (this happens a lot because kids play with their ponies in the pool), then mold can grow and spread. If the tail washer gets rusted (because of water), the rust can cover up the entire inside of the body.
In this case I think it's a combination of both.

...Eek. That is one nasty Pony on the inside.

Regarding bleach and colored Ponies, if you dip the entire Pony in the bleach, you're an idiot going to ruin your Pony's paint job for sure, and the base color will fade in streaks and blotches. The better thing, IMO, would be to fill the Pony's body cavity with a 1:1 hot water/bleach mixture, and let it sit for a few minutes. Put your finger over the tail hole and block the head-hole and shake. (The diluted bleach won't harm you, just wash your hands afterward, and remember not to wipe your fingers on your pants.) Dump, rinse with clear water, and assess. Repeat if needed.

Aside from the internal damage, she's in *damn* good condition, though! TAF Ponies have so much more paintwork to get ruined--it's amazing she's just got the one rub, an eye-ding and a little faded blush. o_O
